Dr Andrew Capel is a Senior Lecturer in Bioengineering and Regenerative Sciences at Loughborough University, specialising in musculoskeletal injury, regeneration and the role of exercise in recovery. His research spans next‑generation bio‑hybrid prosthetics, tissue‑engineered musculoskeletal models and mechanosensory‑motor feedback systems, with over £7.3M in funding from NIHR, NC3Rs, BBSRC and UKRI supporting rehabilitation‑focused projects such as real‑time musculoskeletal health monitoring and multi‑tissue injury models.
