Dr Simon Briley is a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics at the University of Derby. His research spans clinical, rehabilitation, and performance domains, with expertise in wearable technologies and motion capture (marker-based and markerless). He co-leads Biomechanical Interventions for Mood and Quality of Life in Major Depression (BioMeQ-MD) with the University of Nottingham, an interdisciplinary programme involving psychiatry, physiotherapy, biomechanics, and adaptive exercise specialists. He also collaborates with Loughborough University on wheelchair biomechanics and shoulder health in adaptive athletes, focusing on translating biomechanics into evidence-based rehabilitation solutions.
EMERGE activity
Simon is supporting EMERGE’s PPIE activity by co‑leading the design and delivery of the PPIE roadshow and helping to establish and run the Public Advisory Group.
